Picture Quality

LG 49SK8000 has a very good picture quality thanks to the 4k resolution which is four times greater than full HD. This 2018 model has some improvements in terms of picture quality compared to the same model last year. An example is the nano cell black technology that along with local dimming improves the black colors depth so the movie watching experience will be splendid. Another extra feature from the last year is the Advanced HDR by Technicolor® or as others call it “the Hollywood HDR standard”. It also supports the Dolby Vision HDR which will bring the content to life thanks to the beautiful colors it displays. In terms of the image processing, the LG 49SK8000 is equipped with α7 Intelligent Processor which used to be part of only OLED TVs and now it is also supported by the Super UHD range. We will give 4.5/5 points for the LG 49SK8000 review part of the picture quality.

Features

LG 49SK8000 has two new very interesting features this year and those are ThinQ and Google assistant. ThinQ is LG’s artificial intelligence which makes the TV the hub for all your smart devices. So you can control all the smart devices in your home through the TV. LG 49SK8000 is also compatible with Google home and Alexa devices. Apart from these new features there are also the usual ones that almost every smart TV has. These include connection to the internet through the built-in wireless technology or through the Ethernet port and screen sharing technology with your smartphone. The operating system is user friendly and you can also download useful apps and stream content from the biggest streaming companies. We will give 5/5 points for the LG 49SK8000 review part of the features.

Sound

LG 49SK8000 has two Dolby built-in speakers with 10W power each. The total output of 20 W is usually enough, unless you are standing too far from the TV. If that is the case, you should consider buying external speakers that will turn your room into a home theater. The ultra surround mode is good, especially if you buy external speakers and the sound is clear also but that depends on the content quality. We will give 4/5 points for the LG 49SK8000 review part of the sound.

Design

LG 49SK8000 has a very good design overall and the color looks good. The frame is quite thin which will make the TV look good if you wall mount it. Also some of the connection ports are on the side so shouldn’t be a problem if you wall mount it. The stand looks good too. We will give 5/5 points for the LG 49SK8000 review part of the design.

Price

The LG 49SK8000 price was $596 as of November 2018 which is not that bad for a super UHD TV. We will give 4.5/5 points for the LG 49SK8000 review part of the price.

LG 49SK8000 Review Conclusions

LG 49SK8000 is a very good TV in general. The picture quality is very good thanks to the 4k resolution and naco cell display. It has local dimming and nano cell black technologies that make the movie watching experience very enjoyable. It also comes with new features this year like the ThinQ technology and compatibility with Google home and Alexa devices. The sound is also loud and clear but that also depends on the content quality. Design is also very good and the price is not bad either. We hope our LG 49SK8000 review has been helpful to you.
