Picture Quality

LG 34UM88C-P has an amazing picture quality thanks to the ultra wide resolution which is also the preferred resolution by most people. IPS panels tend to have the best colors but not the best response rates. But don’t get us wrong because this monitor is great for gaming. The contrast ratio isn’t the best out there but still it produces great colors, mostly because of the IPS panel and 1.07 billion colors can’t be wrong. The brightness is good too but not the best that we have seen. We will give 5/5 points for LG 34UM88C-P review part of the picture quality.

LG 34UM88C-P also comes with some very useful features where the most important one is the free sync technology. This feature removes image tearing and provides a smooth gaming experience. Another good gaming feature is the black stabilizer that can really bring objects out of the shades. Also the DAS (Dynamic Action Sync) feature is great when playing action games as it minimizes input lag. LG 34UM88C-P also has all the essential connectivity and two built-in speakers with 7W each, which is great. Other important features are flicker safe technology and 1ms motion blur reduction. We will give 5/5 points for LG 34UM88C-P review part of the features.

LG 34UM88C-P has also a great design. The color looks good and it can adapt in any room. The stander looks good too and it is not too big or exaggerated. It has the common flexibility but nothing special worth to mention, simple and great. We will give 4.5/5 points for the LG 34UM88C-P review part of the design.

LG 34UM88C-P Review Price

LG 34UM88C-P Good Reviews

★★★★★ 5 out of 5 stars.

Excellent Monitor for coding and databases

For starters, I am not a gamer and I don’t use it for sound.

I am a Software Engineer. I use this for coding, databases, youtube tutorial watching, and watched a few movies on it.
I’ve had no problems with it at all. I use the thunderbolt connection of my 15″ MacBook Pro. (I’d love to get another one)

Mostly what I love is the massive area I get while coding and looking at database tables. I don’t really plug anything else into it to switch between inputs but it does support split screen and multiple inputs.

No issues that I’ve noticed with dead pixels or light bleed or anything like that. But I’m a simple person when it comes to monitors and never have ran any extensive video testing on mine.

Cannot go back to anything less..

I’ve had a 34UC98 before this and absolutely loved the curve for that immersive IMAX theater and gaming experience. The only reason I got this was for the flat viewing angle and 0 distortion needed for graphical work. Other than that, there are not many monitors I can go back to after experiencing a 1440p ULTRAWIDE experience.

For work: The amount of desktop space you gain from 1440p alone is quite huge, but to add the 3440 width of ultrawide is a complete game changer. The amount of web pages, data sheets, lists, graphics and videos you can put side by side to multitask and compare is so efficient and a complete must for anyone trying to maximize their workflow. The image quality is superb and the colors are accurate enough for my line of work as a part time graphic artist and web dev.

For entertainment: Stunning visuals like always from LG and the wider viewing angles and field of view in most games nowadays is a huge advantage as well as adding to the overall immersion. Response time is decent and the freesync helps smooth out faster paced games for AMD users. Even without freesync, I would say this is a great addition to any pc station for its price.

The monitor stands in my desk looking slick with its brushed metallic stand and the adjustable height and rotation helps me make easy adjustments depending on what I am doing on the pc. As a long time user of LG monitors and TV’s, none of them have ever given me a problem and have been super reliable whilst always bringing an amazing price to quality ratio – this monitor is no different!

I have purchased three LG televisions and now this UltraWide monitor. I did have to upgrade my graphics card to realize the full capabilities, but it was well worth the $65.00 for a PNY NVIDIA Quad card with a DisplayPort outlet to get there. The monitor has surprisingly good audio, though I used an Altec Lansing sound system. The video quality is unparalleled and provides color depth and detail that is astounding. It is like having an extra large version of the screen on my Microsoft Surface. I replaced two twenty-four inch monitors with this one monitor and it really cleaned up my desktop. Having a screen that is large enough to have one large window and two smaller windows open at the same time becomes addicting.

I’ll keep this review short and simple for you. This monitor is glorious. You’ll love it. Why? The 34″ 21:9 display is AWESOME for productivity. You can have 3 Chrome windows open at once for easy comparisons or research. You can see more of your timeline in Premiere and Final Cut Pro. Or you can even have an HTML window, a CSS window, and a live preview open all at once for web development. Seriously, the screen is tremendous. 99% sRGB means colors are rich, vibrant, and accurate, and this display has minimal light bleed. The menu system is also easy to navigate. LG makes it easy to adjust the volume, change the brightness, or even turn the display off. The worst part about this monitor? It takes a while to turn on and it sometimes takes a while to read the Display Port input from my MacBook Pro.
Bottom line: this monitor is an absolute yes. You’ll get something big, vibrant, and beautiful, and you’ll boost your productivity with bountiful amounts of screen real estate.
If you’re into content production, I suggest the flat panel. If you’re into gaming or media consumption, getting an ultrawide with a slight curve can provide a more immersive experience. I hope this review helps!

★★★★★ 5 out of 5 stars.
This monitor is naturally very demanding for gaming, and many games are incompatible with the aspect ratio. Some tools exist to correct this, but nothing’s perfect.
– For graphic work, my little GTX 660 runs this just fine, and this is a superb monitor for that kind of productivity. Media consumption, especially when you come across true 1440p ultrawide material, is amazing. It’s a personal cinema. Even 1080p 21:9 content looks great fullscreen, for that matter.

LG 34UM88C-P Bad Reviews

I want to like these monitors
Buyers of LG monitors beware, I believe LG has a significant QC problem. I purchased this monitor for my small business. The Thunderbolt port when connected flickers on and off. The Thunderbolt input clearly does not work properly. Tried many solutions, including plugging in two separate new mac pros (2013) and a MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt. All yielded the same result – a flickering screen. I also have two of the older model 34UM95’s. Only one works with all port inputs, while the other will flicker when the Display port is plugged in a PC. I want to like these monitors, because they offer so many inputs, but LG needs to either get the tech right, or up their QC.

So disappointed with this LG 34UM88-P 34-Inch 21:9 UltraWide QHD monitor. Big red line down the center of the screen on day one hooked up to my fully loaded 2015 Macbook Pro via Thunderbolt. One of the VESA mount screws also rattling around the unit and thus could not fully secure to the included stand. I’m gonna be staying away from LG products after this very negative experience.

LG 34UM88C-P is a great monitor overall. The picture quality is amazing and especially the colors. The response rate is not the best out there but it is not terrible either. The most important features are the free sync technology, the black stabilizer and dynamic action sync. Design is great but the price is just a little high. We hope our LG 34UM88C-P review has been helpful to you.

Should I buy LG 34UM88C-P?

We say that you go for this monitor because is simply great. However, we also recommend taking a look at this other monitor LG 34UC79G.
