Picture Quality

LG 34UM68-P has an amazing picture quality thanks to the ultra wide resolution which is also the preferred resolution by most people. IPS panels tend to have the best colors but not the best response rates. But don’t get us wrong because this monitor is great for gaming. The contrast ratio isn’t the best out there but still it produces great colors, mostly because of the IPS panel and. The brightness is good too but not the best that we have seen. We will give 4.5/5 points for LG 34UM68-P review part of the picture quality.

Features

LG 34UM68-P also comes with some very useful features where the most important one is the free sync technology. This feature removes image tearing and provides a smooth gaming experience. Another good gaming feature is the black stabilizer that can really bring objects out of the shades. Also the DAS (Dynamic Action Sync) feature is great when playing action games as it minimizes input lag. The screen can also be divided in lots of different ways and this comes in handy when you are working. LG 34UM68-P also has all the essential connectivity and two built-in speakers with 7W each, which is great. Other important features are flicker safe technology and 1ms motion blur reduction. We will give 5/5 points for LG 34UM68-P review part of the features.

Design

LG 34UM68-P has also a great design. The color looks good and it can adapt in any room. The stander looks good too and it is not too big or exaggerated. It has the common flexibility but nothing special worth to mention, simple and great. We will give 4.5/5 points for the LG 34UM68-P review part of the design.

Best Value UWHD, IMO

I had seen the smaller 25″ in person and nearly bought it several times over the past year and a half, so I already knew they are a quality line of displays. However, I’m surprised how wobbly the stand is on the 29″. Not sure I trust it over the long run, so I may have to VESA mount it. Also, the photos show a DVI connector, but this model doesn’t have that. It has two HDMI and one Display Port. There are conversion cables that can remedy that here on Amazon if you need it to be DVI to Display Port. I will still give it a 5/5, but only because that Prime Day deal was too ridiculous not to bite on.

As far as the display itself, it’s nearly a dual monitor, but without the annoyance of split screens. The primary objective was getting a lot more desktop space over my 8 year old 1440×900 Dell, but the color quality is what is most impressive. Far superior to that old monitor’s color quality.

High quality great price

Was initially a little skeptical of it since i couldnt find any info on the product description for the hertz of the screen but was limited on what I could get due to being on a budget and looking for something to get to buy time till 4k screens become more affordable, but was surprised at the picture quality granted it’s only 1080p but figured 1440 isn’t that big a deal to me atm and the size is nice coming from using a 36in hd tv lol and couldn’t do 24in since I was spoiled by the 36in, it being utra wide took a few minutes to get used to mainly the time it took to get my display setting changed to 2560×1080. Was quick and easy to set up and put together. Using it with an MSI RX 480 8GB and it’s great

Awesome Monitor! Very bright, clean colors.

This monitor is stunning. It came with no damage, and was an easy setup. The image is so clear and a lot of games support this resolution, so don’t worry too much about that. Games like Rocket League, Rust, and CSGO look amazing on this monitor. The menu for selecting certain features is very nice and having the controls for the screen stuff is hidden from view giving just a sleek look overall to the monitor. I had no issues connecting it up with a HDMI cable to my laptop, but I do suggest getting one that is made for 21:9 resolution, as I think it helps out. All in all, no problems with this monitor yet and am very happy 🙂

this one is as good as the most expensive ones in this size category …

Of the various standard and wide screen monitors I looked at, this one is as good as the most expensive ones in this size category and for much less money. When I first started shopping for a new monitor, I didn’t think a wide screen was what I’d want, but a friend brought his over to plug into my Mac mini computer. Once we started opening spreadsheets and websites side by side with one another, I decided that was what I wanted. The colors are good, the speakers are just fine, and the screen resolution is just right for me.

Awesome Monitors!

Have two of these on my personal rig, and work amazingly! I would buy two more if my mount would allow! Using AMD Freesysnc, and they have decent sound, though I have an amp and better sounding speakers I use. Of course I did not buy these screens for sound but rather the rich picture they boast, and rich it is. I am using Display Port, however HDMI will work fine with the monitors as well. Compared to my three old 29″ Acer’s who were very faded these screen are the cats meow, and take up the same real-estate that three monitors took up! Absolutely love these monitors!

Great deal for a great display.

This is a great monitor. I use it mainly for writing code because it gives me so much more room than my 15 inch monitor that my laptop has. I’m not one that really understand colors and screen quality, but it appears to be very high quality and us a good deal. One downside that many people mention is that 29in and 2560×1080 display resolution is easy to make out the pixels, but if you put your face right up a few inches in front of the screen it is totally fine. As for build quality it is good quality, has a little wobble, but if your desk or table is study and doesn’t wobble you won’t have problems with that, or if you use the VESA mounting system you also won’t have this problem unless your VESA unit is wobbly. OSC is great and very intuitive. No wondering what the buttons do because there is only one joy stick style button.

Ideal for video or music creation software!!

Great monitor! Glad I didn’t go with anything smaller because height-wise this monitor feels like a regular 20-23″ monitor but length-wise it is of course wider than any monitor I’ve ever had but this gives me so much space to use for positive reasons. If you use any kind of video or music making software (DAW (Digital Audio Workstation)) then this width will be a God send! If you ever found yourself scrolling through that timeline constantly, then this will help alleviate that issue. You can see so much more of your content on screen without having to constantly scroll to see things. This is my main use for this screen and its size and for this purpose it is amazingly good.

The image quality is standard to high, meaning, if you own a retina display or something then you might feel that the image quality is nothing special but truth to tell, the image quality is otherwise, when not compared to a retina display, really great. It doesn’t tire my eyes and I’m not super young and color and sharpness is all adjustable so no complaints there. There’s quite a few settings for the screen that you can use to your advantage to really set the screen to be the way you want it. I’ve not used any of the game or picture modes, I’m just using a custom setting that suits me and I love how this monitor allows me to do just that – adapt it to myself!

The stand isn’t wobbly at all, in fact, if it does wobble at all, it only does so if I touch the screen and shake it and then it only shakes the monitor from where it attaches to the stand. The stand itself doesn’t move at all. So despite what it looks like, the stand is actually sturdy. The stand allows upward and downward tilting, but there’s no raising or lowering function. I don’t miss that in my case as the top edge of the screen should ideally be about eye-height anyway and because of my height it is. Cranking your neck back to look at a monitor is not good for your neck, ergonomically speaking that is. This monitor ticks all the boxes for me and I couldn’t be happier.

Great format for productivity!

I use this monitor for my day to day work with AutoCAD and the ultra-wide format (21:9) and high color accuracy is perfect for productivity programs. I tend to use the extra space on the sides compared to a normal format (16:9) monitor for the contextual details window panes such as “Properties”, “Materials”, etc. That feature alone saves me the trouble of needing a second monitor to keep the properties pane out of the way of the work space. The wide format is also nice for other programs like Sony Vegas and Adobe Photoshop or any other program that has a timeline or a work space. I haven’t tried playing any video games on this since I have been using this with my drafting computer at work but I am considering about ordering a second for my personal rig but I have heard that it has issues with black bar on the side of some fullscreen game/programs.

Bad User Reviews

☆ 1 out of 5 stars.

Died two weeks after warranty expired.

It was a great monitor until it started acting up. About 10 months into use, my Mac mini (late 2012) wouldn’t be able to “see” it and would default to my other monitor. I thought it was a software bug or maybe the video card was dying on my Mac mini as it is five years old. I would have to repeatedly turn the LG monitor off and on, and eventually it would all work properly. But, then after about six weeks of acting up, the LG just refused to ever start up again. Very sad story. So, when you amortize the cost, this monitor was about 3x more expensive than my previous monitor, for which I paid $1,000.

Died after 8 months.

Owned the monitor for less than a year and before going completely dead. Won’t even power up when plugged in. I’m contacting support and hoping it’s just a faulty power cable. I’ll update this review once I have more to report.

Do NOT buy it…it does not work.

Worst experience ever. The screen blacks out every now and then. I asked for a replacement and got a new one. The new monitor had the same problem i.e. the screen suddenly decides to black out intermittently and continues to do that for a long while. I had to return the monitor for the second time! I asked for a box to return the monitor in but no one seemed to care to respond. It was a hassle, inconvenient, and I incurred a lot of losses in shipping. I do not remember being this unsatisfied with a product for a long time.

Conclusion

LG 34UM68-P is a great monitor overall. The picture quality is amazing and especially the colors. The response rate is not the best out there but it is not terrible either. The most important features are the free sync technology, the black stabilizer and dynamic action sync. Design is great and so is the price. We hope our LG 34UM68-P review has been helpful to you.

Should I buy LG 34UM68-P?

We say that you go for this monitor because is simply great. However, we also recommend taking a look at this other monitor LG 27UD58-B.
