Picture Quality

LG 34UC98 has an amazing picture quality thanks to the ultra wide resolution which is also the preferred resolution by most people. IPS panels tend to have the best colors but not the best response rates. But don’t get us wrong because this monitor is great for gaming. The contrast ratio isn’t the best out there but still it produces great colors, mostly because of the IPS panel and 1.07 billion colors can’t be wrong. The brightness is good too but not the best that we have seen. We will give 5/5 points for LG 34UC98 review part of the picture quality.

Features

LG 34UC98 also comes with some very useful features where the most important one is the free sync technology. This feature removes image tearing and provides a smooth gaming experience. Another good gaming feature is the black stabilizer that can really bring objects out of the shades. Also the DAS (Dynamic Action Sync) feature is great when playing action games as it minimizes input lag. The screen can also be divided in lots of different ways and this comes in handy when you are working. LG 34UC98 also has all the essential connectivity including one thunderbolt port and two built-in speakers with 7W each, which is great. Other important features are flicker safe technology and 1ms motion blur reduction. We will give 5/5 points for LG 34UC98 review part of the features.

Design

LG 34UC98 has also a great design. The color looks good and it can adapt in any room. The stander looks good too and it is not too big or exaggerated. It has the common flexibility but nothing special worth to mention, simple and great. We will give 5/5 points for the LG 34UC98 review part of the design.

LG 34UC98 Review Price

Our review price was $931 which is a great price for a great monitor like this. We will give 4/5 points for the LG 34UC98 review part of the price.

LG 34UC98 User Good Review

★★★★★ 5 out of 5 stars.

Unbelievable…it will blow you away!
This is one freaking INSANE monitor. I moved up to it from a 28″ Thunderbolt display to take advantage of my spiffy new Late 2016 MacBook Pro 15″, and I couldn’t be happier. The width is truly as wide as your field of vision, so the experience is like sitting in the middle of a Cinerama film (for all you grownups; IMAX, for you youngsters.) Everyone who walks into my office can’t believe what this looks like. And when you realize that the MBP can drive *four* of these simultaneously, you begin to see where virtual reality is going. If you’re even thinking of getting a widescreen monitor, by all means take the leap. This is fantastic.

Best monitor i have ever owned. Amazing definition and high quality.
This is not a cheap monitor by any means but you do get what you pay for. I do youtubing and for productivity i love the extra real state on my monitor to get the most out of it.
I was very impressed because i use this monitor for gaming as well and everything looks amazing from the box to the parts of the monitor happy with everything LG really did outdid themselves. I saw this monitor on one of the youtube channel i follow and love it even more in person when i received it doesn’t get any better than this. There is 27 version more pricey but it all depends on your needs i am in love with this monitor and it will stay with for a few years.
Video editing never was easier with this monitor and the the resolution is just amazing. You can tilt it, lower it or raise it. A lot of input for your needs.. overall a great product. This is by far the best monitor your money can buy. Unless you go with the bigger one out there already.

★★★★★ 5 out of 5 stars.

This LG monitor is gorgeous (34UC98) !
Wow, this is gorgeous ! Very nice curves, very nice resolution. I’m in love !

I found myself just staring at it once I set it up just the way I wanted. It makes 1080 look like 480 did when HD was first introduced. I’m very happy with my purchase to say the least ! Unfortunately once you go ultra wide you can’t go back to just HD. Now I’m looking into upgrading my Tv.

Note, you will need to adjust your icons, text, and browser size, which is easily done in your preferences.

★★★★★ 5 out of 5 stars.

Amazing Monitor!
I have had this monitor for about a week now and just amazed at how beautiful it is. I am a programmer so it’s like having 3 monitors in one and much better than my previous two monitor setup. Amazing color rendition and video editing is so much easier. I was hesitant to buy such an expensive monitor but after using it this last week I don’t regret my decision. Just in case if might be helpful to others, I am using this monitor with a late 2013 13″ Macbook pro using thunderbolt. No issues whatsoever, also it’s running at 60 hertz.

★★★★★ 5 out of 5 stars.

Great monitor, wish I had done this sooner
Great monitor, wish I had done this sooner. Not a gamer, just a developer. So, I love all the added space
I have now. The only issues are with the thunderbolt cables in windows 10. I’m also running Bootcamp, for dual booting OSX or Windows. Once the monitor goes to sleep, I have to power off and reboot. It works fine when using HDMI.

LG 34UC98 User Bad Reviews

★ 1 out of 5 stars
Terrible warranty support
I do NOT recommend buying this monitor. I bought mine in January, and in March, the left edge and bottom left corner developed a defect. LG serviceman came, and said this is due to mishandling! Warranty does not cover! After continued use of the monitor, discoloration of the panel appeared, and the edge started to bulge. LG still will not honor the warranty! Last LG product that I will buy. I liked it when it worked.

★ 1 out of 5 stars.
I spent nearly $1000 for this monitor and it broke in 15 months – do not buy.
Avoid this product, as you’re apparently running the risk of having a $1000 doorstop within less than two years. I paid $970 with tax for this monitor in July of 2016. Last week, it developed a set of horizontal lines across the screen that had nothing to do with input – they appeared on the settings screens even when everything else was unplugged. Nothing had happened to the monitor – it’s been sitting on my desk at home since the day I got it. I set the monitor back to factory defaults, which is about the only troubleshooting step available, and still no luck. I called LG – since they only have a 12-month warranty, they offered to repair it for $400 if I shipped it to their factory. They also gave me the numbers of two local repair shops, who, when I called them, stated that they didn’t actually repair computer monitors. I’m not inclined to shell out another $400 to LG just to see if the monitor can make it through another year without breaking.

I’m back to using my old Apple Thunderbolt display, which has worked flawlessly for 5 years and counting. I’m very disappointed in the LG product, and with LG’s quality control. One year warranty seems to be the standard for monitors like this, but I’d like to think that this one should have been built well enough to go more than a year and three months of normal use without breaking.

Conclusion

LG 34UC98 is a great monitor overall. The picture quality is amazing and especially the colors. The response rate is not the best out there but it is not terrible either. The most important features are the free sync technology, the black stabilizer and dynamic action sync. Design is great but the price is just a little high. We hope our LG 34UC98 review has been helpful to you.

Should I buy LG 34UC98?

We say that you go for this monitor because is simply great. However, we also recommend taking a look at this other monitor LG 32UD59-B.
