Picture Quality

LG 34UC88-B has an amazing picture quality thanks to the ultra wide resolution which is also the preferred resolution by most people. IPS panels tend to have the best colors but not the best response rates. But don’t get us wrong because this monitor is great for gaming. The contrast ratio isn’t the best out there but still it produces great colors, mostly because of the IPS panel. The brightness is good too but not the best that we have seen. We will give 4.5/5 points for LG 34UC88-B review part of the picture quality.

Features

LG 34UC88-B also comes with some very useful features where the most important one is the free sync technology. This feature removes image tearing and provides a smooth gaming experience. Another good gaming feature is the black stabilizer that can really bring objects out of the shades. Also the DAS (Dynamic Action Sync) feature is great when playing action games as it minimizes input lag. The screen can also be divided in lots of different ways and this comes in handy when you are working. LG 34UC88-B also has all the essential connectivity and two built-in speakers with 7W each, which is great. Other important features are flicker safe technology and 1ms motion blur reduction. We will give 5/5 points for LG 34UC88-B review part of the features.

Design

LG 34UC88-B has also a great design. The color looks good and it can adapt in any room. The stander looks good too and it is not too big or exaggerated. It has the common flexibility but nothing special worth to mention, simple and great. We will give 5/5 points for the LG 34UC88-B review part of the design.

LG 34UC88-B Review Price

Our review price was $658 which is a great price for a great monitor like this. We will give 4.5/5 points for the LG 34UC88-B review part of the price.

LG 34UC88-B User Good Reviews

★★★★★ 5 out of 5 stars.

but man this display is fantastic.
It may be because I’m still in the honeymoon phase here, but man this display is fantastic.I’m coming from an 8 year old 22 inch Dell display that isn’t even full HD, so this is a quantum leap in quality. Ultrawide is great. No dead pixels. There’s some small light bleed in both lower corners, but that’s to be expected with this kind of panel. Plus, I don’t even notice it unless I purposely make the screen completely black. The on screen controls are kinda meh with the joystick, but you don’t really need to mess with them much because the out of the box configuration looks really nice.

Limitless Gadgets!
OMG! This monitor is awesome! It replaced two old monitors I had on my desk. Similar screen real estate with zero physical separation. The “OnScreen Control” application allows you to snap your windows into a window format you select by accessing it from the Windows system tray (bottom right on Windows Operating Systems). The picture by picture is a nice feature but I tend to switch sources instead. I have not used the Dual Controller application yet. As I am not allowed to install this software on my work computer (yet). I did get a “pluggable” model: USB3-SWITCH2 and two longer USB 3.0 cables in order to switch my keyboard/mouse (which has one USB transponder) from my personal computer to my work computer. LG rules!

Size is great.
It’s almost a year now. I’m adjusted to this screen size now and happy to say I can still work on 15″ monitors when I have to.

The resolution and the colors are great. Use this monitor with a display port cable. It’s substantially better, otherwise you’ll be working on 50hz and you don’t want that.
I find I’m not using the mouse sharing option or the integrated monitor tool for splitting the screen. What I do employ, is the sheer size of the workspace, enabling me to easily display a wealth of information when I work. When it’s time to sit back and relax, I get to enjoy movies and games in what truly is an immersive, beautiful experience. That being said I think those who will benefit from this monitor are those who see it and get that feeling like “I could use that kind of workspace”. If that’s you I’d say you’re pretty much in for what you’re expecting. It really is a pleasure to work on.

The best monitor I’ve ever used!
This monitor is really a thing of beauty. It’s heavy-duty, has an excellent height/tilt adjustment feature, and the picture is simply stunning. I use the PC primarily for programming (a task for which it seems there’s never enough contiguous desktop real-estate) and this is going to make things significantly easier! One unique feature that I’ve not seen before is a single mini-joystick control on the bottom edge that allows you to access the monitor’s setup menu (it’s a button and 4-way toggle in one) – significantly easier to use than the multi-button schemes provided with most monitors I’ve used in the past! An online review had rated this as the top choice for 21:9 curved monitors, and I’d have to agree.

AWESOME. Single word to describe this monitor. Read for details
I don’t even know where to begin with this. Let’s just make it simple and stick to my personal experience. I was shopping for a new 34″ 21.9 Ultra-wide that supported Freesync for gaming. I researched all the competition and this overall was not only the best buy, best features, best display, best overall monitor in it’s class – it was the cheapest option also, when compared to the other brands. I researched them all, and none of the others come close. Keep in mind, if you compare this to the Samsung offering (which was the closest in features and display) the Samsung uses a VA panel, not IPS. This was a deal-breaker for me. Also, when using the Freesync option on this monitor, make sure to crank it up to 70Mhz (max support) and use Vertical sync on game settings to avoid screen tearing. Im using this with a MSI laptop with a 980GTX and I pull 55-65 frames consistantly. Make sure to have the horsepower to run this thing before you buy it. It’s a lot of pixels to push. It would be better paired with a 1080GTX if you can afford one.

White lines across after 3 months
Please do not buy LG products. My monitor broke in just 3 months. Crazy white lines starts appearing, they get worse every day. I am warning everyone not to buy this product. I have an editing deadline in 4 days, and I am stuck with no monitor right now. Their return policy will take at least a week because you have to ship it to them before you could get a new monitor.

Wonderful and life-changing until Horizontal lines appeared which cover up my taskbar at bottom of the screen!
I absolutely loved this monitor until yesterday, when suddenly about 1cm of the bottom of the screen is filled with black and gray horizontal lines – I’ll have to get a photo of them but they exist regardless of the source. They appear in BIOS, and all other media sources. Hoping I can get it replaced since it’s only 6 months old.

*UPDATE 2 hours later* NOW MONITOR IS COMPLETELY non-responsive and dead no matter what source I use or try. I’m a web developer and have a degree in video production – it’s the first time I’ve purchased a NON-DELL monitor and I hope LG or AMAZON can make it right with

Not even the monitors firmware menus will display – it’s as though the entire panel has completely failed and the horizontal lines were just the warning sign. They lasted three days, now it’s back to my old Dell.

I’m really surprised because I love my LG 4k TV’s.

Conclusion

LG 34UC88-B is a great monitor overall. The picture quality is amazing and especially the colors. The response rate is not the best out there but it is not terrible either. The most important features are the free sync technology, the black stabilizer and dynamic action sync. Design is great but the price is just a little high. We hope our LG 34UC88-B review has been helpful to you.

Should I buy LG 34UC88-B?

We say that you go for this monitor because is simply great. However, we also recommend taking a look at this other monitor LG 32UD59-B.
